H. G. Wells (1866-1946) was an English writer who is remembered mostly for his science fiction novels. He is also known as the father of science fiction (along with Jules Verne and Hugo Gernsback). 'The Time Machine' tells the story of an inventor in Victorian England who travels to the distant future in a time machine. There, he develops admiration for the beauty of the world and for the peaceful and childlike Eloi people. However, when his time machine disappears, he finds out the bigger picture.
